THEY filmed on a dull, dreich day – but Hannah Wilson loved every minute of lighting up Newmains United’s crowdfunding campaign.

Hannah was the brains behind the club’s successful Christmas Message, which reached over 30,000 people on social media back in December.

Now she’s filmed and directed the brilliant Help Newmains Make A Difference video, which features ex-Scotland boss Craig Brown.

The club hope it will help raise funds to develop their rickety clubhouse so they can put on free classes for the community to help with the likes of wellness, health and mental health.

Film graduate Hannah – who worked in tandem with London-based editor Holly Winship on the latest project – said: “After how well the Newmains Christmas Message went I was eager to get even more involved with the club.

“As soon as a crowdfunding campaign film was mentioned I couldn’t wait to put my previous experience in directing documentaries to the test.

“The day of the shoot was cold, wet and dull but it didn’t stop us. In fact, I used the weather conditions to my advantage as it helped highlight what work needed done.

“The flooded field and dripping drains wasn’t necessarily pleasant but I didn’t mind getting down and dirty in the mud. The day proved to me just how badly the club need the money which they are trying to raise, as it would greatly benefit the Newmains communiy.”

With fellow graduate Craig Patullo interviewing and filming Craig Brown in his home town of Aberdeen, Hannah admits the staffing on the production of the film gave it a professional feel.

Hannah said: “I couldn’t believe it when I was informed of Craig Brown’s enthusiasm to be involved with the fundraiser. Craig Patullo really helped show Brown’s passion towards the club.

“Being able to work with Holly, a professional editor from London, was also very exciting. I couldn’t wait for us to share our skills, forming an alliance between production and post production.

“That’s something which usually happens in professional production companies, such as BBC Studios. Getting Holly’s insight to the project was majorly beneficial. Having both Craig Brown and London talent meant I knew the production was going to be magic.

“I love working with the team at Newmains and I can’t wait to show the world what they have in store next!”
