EACH week our man BEN BANKS checks out our upcoming opposition. This week it’s the team sitting directly above us in McBookie League Two.

ANNBANK UNITED play their home games at New Pebble Park – but they visit Victoria Park just a stone’s throw in front of Newmains.

The Bankies sit a place and four points better off than the team bossed by Paul Davies and Craig Gupwell.

Newmains come into the clash on the back of last week’s 4-0 derby loss at Carluke Rovers.

But Annbank are also licking their wounds following a 4-1 defeat against Vale of Leven last time out.

That extended a poor run of form, which has seen the Ayrshire outfit win only two of their last nine games.

They are also yet to win on the road with all four victories coming at home, where they’d had an unbeaten streak stretching from September to the start of 2019.

Annbank’s struggles have come at the back, highlighted by the fact they have conceded an average of 3.4 goals a game.

If United can get their forward line firing on all cylinders they could find some joy.

The Bankies’ standout star has been prolific striker Jordan Ryan, who has already netted 16 times.

If Newmains are to stand a chance of taking anything from the clash they will surely have to keep him quiet.

Kick-off at Victoria Park on Saturday is 1.45pm.
