He’s The Stats Man: Lanark United

EVERY week our man JOSH KANE analyses Newmains United’s upcoming opponents. This week it’s one of the title chasers – and their goal-hungry frontman…

“NEWMAINS UNITED face one of their toughest tests of their campaign tomorrow afternoon.

“Not only do they welcome Lanark United to Victoria Park, one of the league’s most prolific scorers in Hugh Kerr will arrive within their ranks.

“The deadly striker has already notched 16 goals so far.

“Newmains defenders Craig Scott and Davie Ross will have to be up for the battle again after showing how resilient they can be in the stunning cup win over Whitletts Victoria last weekend.

“Lanark sit a point behind League Two leaders Lesmahagow with a game in hand and will be looking to return to top spot.

“The side have been on an exceptional run of form, losing only one game against fellow title contenders Ashfield. They’ve scored a massive 35 goals and conceded only 11.

“Like Newmains, Lanark come into this game buoyed by a giant-killing cup performance. They knocked out League One opposition for the second time this season as they triumphed over Blantyre Victoria in the West of Scotland Cup.

“The sides last met in the cup sections at the start of the season, where Lanark ran out 5-0 winners at home.

“This weekend sees kick-off move to 1.45pm – and don’t forget if you show any valid season ticket from any club you can watch the game for free!”
