He’s The Stats Man: Lesmahagow

OUR man KEVIN CRAIGENS takes a look at the side looking to seal promotion back to League One at the first attempt on Saturday….

LESMAHAGOW have hit the back of the net an incredible 85 times this season.

But they’ve also hit the headlines.

In November Jeff Stelling sat in disbelief as he read out The Gow’s huge 18-0 victory over Ardeer Thistel

The Sky Sports Soccer Saturday host was gob-smacked as he announced John Mcstay and Paul Woodlock had both netted four times and Scott Schoneville had grabbed a hat-trick with Ryan Innes, Kyle Weir and an own goal completing the rout.

But the Craighead Park side have also had to take their medicine this term.

Earlier in the season they took on Auchinleck Talbot in the final of the West Region Sectional League Cup and lost 6-1.

The Gow are eight points off leaders Lanark with two games in hand. But they know a win at Victoria Park on Saturday would seal promotion.

It’s already been a huge turnaround from last term, when they finished 15th in League One with just 11 points, having shipped 103 goals and scored only 35.
