CRAIG GUPWELL reckons landing one of the biggest draws in Newmains United’s history has lifted everyone at the club.
The Victoria Park side were paired with Lowland League Edinburgh University in the second round of the Soccer Shop Challenge Cup.
That clash has been scheduled for November 21.
The coronavirus lockdown means United have not played since a 3-0 defeat at home to Vale of Leven on March 7.
Gupwell said: “It’s a brilliant draw for the club and a chance to invite a new team to Victoria Park.
“With all the uncertainties flying around at the moment the cup draw was a bit of a lift and a beacon of hope to show that, with a bit of luck, competitive football will be returning soon.
“It’ll be a really tough game for us but we hope that with another few weeks of preparation and some other tough fixtures beforehand it’ll put us in a strong position to welcome them.
“It would be great to cause one of the first cup upsets within the new set up.”
