NEWMAINS UNITED face Glasgow Perthshire at Keppoch Park today in the Shire’s first match in the West of Scotland League.
A side with a staunchly loyal fanbase, Perthshire suffered two false starts to the season.
First opening day opponents Royal Albert withdrew from the league leaving the Shire with no game.
Then last weekend’s clash against Thorniewood United was postponed.
Newmains will hope the Shire’s lack of competitive matches could prove an advantage as they aim to walk away from Possilpark with a positive result and their first win of the season.
They kicked off their campaign with a 4-2 defeat to Yorker Athletic at the Wishaw Sports Centre.
But two second half goals from Marc Howson – and a 2-1 victory after the break – saw them leave with positives they will seek to replicate this afternoon.
Kick-off is at 2pm.
